I´m taking at trip...

On Saturday, May 26 I will leave the Kansas City International Airport for San José, Costa Rica.  I´m not sure how long the flight is, but it leaves at 7a.m. and I should land in San José at 1:30, with a stop in Charlotte, NC to let some people on and off the plane.  At the airport, staff from International Studies Abroad, the company I´m traveling and studying through, will collect me and take me to my home stay!

The address of my homes stay is goofy, because all of the addresses in San José are goofy.  It reads as follows: Los apartamentos La Estancia, 125mts este- east, 50mts sur- south, de la casa amarilla con dos plantas- of the yellow house with two plants.  Good thing ISA is taking me and I don´t have to get there myself! My tica family (Costa Ricans call themselves ´ticos´and ´ticas´) has two daughters who are about 21 and 24.  Papa is an accountant.  They also have two dogs, which I will have to concentrate on not greeting first! I get my own bedroom, though there is another American staying in the house.  Gretchen is from Indiana and will graduate right after we return.  We have agreed to avoid English, since the whole point is to increase our fluency.

I´m taking 2 classes worth 6 credit hours in total: contemporary Latin American literature, and advanced written and oral expression.  Gretchen is in that one with me.  Class is everyday, and La Universidad Latina, San Pedro is about 10 walking minutes from my home stay!

My excitement and nervousness have been grappling for the top feeling these past couple weeks; right now, they are about even.  Scott is taking me to KC on Friday...I think we´ll catch and Avengers matinee so I don´t miss it in theaters (though its doing so well it might last 5 more weeks).  Then overnight in a Hilton, courtesy my Dad, and off to the airport a 4:30 in the morning...no continental breakfast for me!

So, I will try to write often, as much for my family as friends to keep updated as for my memory.  I´ll try to throw pictures in often too, since I will be in such a beautiful place.  Here´s one now:

I will be in the capital, marked in red.

So, I will be mostly posting in Spanish, de obvio, porque es el propósito, because that´s the point!  If you have google chrome, I´ve heard it translates automatically...if not, I don´t know what to tell you, except perdon, please excuse me.
